Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

‘There is something to be wondered at in all of Nature’ - Aristotle

The 10th to 16th May 2021 is Mental Health Awareness week in the UK, and the impact of nature on mental health has been selected as the main theme for this year.

There have been numerous studies demonstrating the positive benefits to our mental health from just being in and around nature on a regular basis.

More than half of UK adults said being close to nature improved their mental health.

Even short periods connecting with nature has been proven to reduce stress levels, help clear the mind and inspire creativity for many people.

Connecting with nature doesn't have to mean going on a long walk or driving to a park or beauty spot.

Relatively simple things like spending a little time around plants and flowers in your garden, sitting outside your house and taking in the sights and sounds and looking after houseplants can all make a noticeable difference.
